Establishment
The First Amendment states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.
Which religion is a county courthouse supposedly establishing by showing the Ten Commandments?
Christianity? The Ten Commandments predate Christianity by over 1300 years.
Islam? Predates by almost 2000 years. Taoism or Buddhism? Over 700 years.
Perhaps Judaism or Hinduism. They were around when the Ten Commandments were given. Has the government put pressure on
anyone to convert to those religions recently?
Perhaps the ACLU doesn't care... perhaps it is the mention of God they want removed...
Abraham Lincoln said, of possible future dangers to our country and freedom, "At what point then is the approach of danger
to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be
our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
Assisted... by the ACLU.

Death and Resurrection
Last week my mother in law passed away. It was sudden, but not totally unexpected. Her lifestyle choices
of cigarettes, alcohol and prescription drugs took a heavy toll. She was at times quite difficult to be around, but
we all loved her and are sadden by her passing. I have no idea how the disciples felt when Jesus died, but it must have
been awful. But I do know how they felt when they knew He was alive!

The Passion
A lot of people are still upset that "The Passion of the Christ" didn't get any academy awards.
Mel Gibson could have easily gotten awards. It wouldn't have cost much.
A short scene showing a wink or longing gaze from Jesus to Mary Magdalene.
Maybe a scene showing Him leaving her room in the middle of the night.
Perhaps rumors of a son.
Just a few seconds in a long movie. That shouldn't cost much?about 30 pieces of silver, perhaps.
Well, Mel Gibson didn't take the pieces of silver. He made an honest movie about the physical pain Christ endured. He showed
truth.
And didn't covet any awards from our far out neighbor, Hollywood.

Ten Commandments or Beatitudes
My daughter sent this article to me in which the author, a professor at Fuller Seminary, proposes that the Beatitudes
should be posted instead of the Ten Commandments. At first I was troubled, because I thought he was advocating a position
that was impossible. But upon further contemplation, I realized I was putting limits on God. He calls up prophets
to proclaim His word regardless of the culture. I still maintain my position that the Ten Commandments belongs on public
buildings because of the historical significance in the founding of our nation. It is an interesting article.
You can read it here on Beliefnet.

Values
Dennis Prager on values:
They are what can be called "Judeo-Christians." Since they founded America, such Christians have recognized the critical
significance of the Jewish text — the Hebrew Bible — which forms the foundation of Judeo-Christian values. It provided the
G-d of Christianity, their supra-natural Creator, the notions of divine moral judgment and divine love, the G-d-based universal
morality they advocate and try to live by, the Ten Commandments, the holy, the sanctity of human life, the belief in a G-d
of history and that history has meaning, and moral progress. All these and more came from the Jews and their texts.
Well said. Read the rest here.

The Mundane
Coming off a big media blitz with the interview today, I usually do a little yo-yo routine emotionally. I get excited
about what happened and want the next day to be an even bigger event, like 2 interviews. Then the doubt kicks in and
down I go. As the slide begins, I remember Rick Warren's words -- "Its not about me." I refocus on God and His
plan. Quickly the ship is righted and off I go again.
It is often said "the devil is in the details," but in reality, God is the details. In the mundane is where God
works the most. He chips away at our worldly nature, conforming us into the image of His Son, slowly, like water over rocks
in a river bed. Did you do something mundane today? Like memorize a couple of the Ten Commandments? Go ahead.
Try it. Grow closer to God now, don't wait.

Consent of the Governed
I just finished an interview with Wild Bill on WBYZ 94.5 out of Baxley, GA. On yesterday's show many people expressed
frustration over what to do about the Supreme Court. Pray first, write letters to congress, write letters to editors
of local papers and the national ones like the Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today. Get on the internet and post
some comments on the blogs. Look to what God has put in your hand and use it. If it is money, spend it. If
it is time, use it. Remember, government comes from the consent of the governed, and that is you.

What Can I Do?
Here is another great place to help. The Alliance Defense Fund accepts tax free donations and uses the funds to
support lawyers that defend attacks by the ACLU. Visit them here. .

What to Do?
I am getting emails supporting the effort of TenForUS and I really appreciate them. Remember that the battle is
not with the ACLU, activist judges or any other group. The battle is spiritual. Get the work out. When someone
asks for a donation, tell them you will give if they can recite the Ten Commandments. Buy a bumper sticker or license
plate and put it on your car. If you don't buy it here get it somewhere! Make a difference. KNOW IT, SHOW
IT, LIVE IT!

I would expect the swing voter on the Supreme Court, Justice O'Conner, to be featured in analysis about the Ten Commandment decision. But Tom Curry of MSNBC thinks Kennedy is the key.

Lots of articles about the Supreme Court case on the Texas and Kentucky displays. Read some here, here, here and here. The Ten should be in every building and on the hearts and minds of all Americans.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will
reject you from being My priest Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Just a Game
We just got home from the winter sports banquet. It was an emotional event for the varsity basketball team. At
the start of the season the assistant coach was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Early in December the head coach starts
having back pains that progress to the point he can hardly walk. He calls the team together and tells them he must have
surgery and may not make it through the season. A fifth grader at the school goes home sick one day in the fall and
finds out a few weeks later he has lukyemia. The guys on the team adopt him as the 12 man and visit him in the hospital
and his home. Read more here.
